Grace and peace be with you all, in Jesus Christ our Savior!

It's been a little dry these past couple of days, we probably could use a little rain...   Now that I have your attention, I pray that your week has been going well.  Rose Marie and I made a whirlwind trip to Elizabeth, IL on Tuesday for a funeral.  It was a relative and also Marie's(Rose Marie's mother) roommate at the Nursing Home.  Pastor Ken Arndt had a wonderful message for those gathered.

Saturday is our outing to Adventureland Park.  There are still some 15.00 tickets available if anyone still wishes to go.  I know that there is carpooling, so I'm rather certain there would be a ride available as well.  Please contact Brian or Darcy Crile if you are interested.

A "thank you" to all those who attended the Family Bible Study at the Schemms last Saturday.  We had a very nice turnout and an enjoyable evening.  We still need a host for July, please talk with Pastor if you might be interested in having the study at your home.

Sunday is the 5th Sunday after Pentecost, the 4th Sunday after Trinity.  Our worship theme will be:  Only the eyes of Christian faith can recognize Christ for who he really is, the God-man who is our Savior from sin.   Our sermon text will once again be taken from our Lord's Sermon on the Mount, Mt 5:11-16, using the theme, "The Salt, the Light, the Candle."  Following the service we will continue our study of the Lord's Prayer, discussing the 3rd Petition, "Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."  These studies are meant to help us give more thought to the words of this oft-used prayer.  The antidote to thoughtlessness is thought and that's why a careful study of this prayer is most helpful.  Please stay with us for the class.

Please note a couple of dates in July:  The church picnic will be Sunday, July 11, at Edmunson Park.  Also, the Ladies Day Out will be Saturday, July 17 at 11:30am at the Pella Tea Room.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.  God's blessing on your weekend.

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.   He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion, to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."  Is 61:1-3

In Christ,
Pastor
