Grace and peace be with you all, in Jesus Christ our Savior!

So far, no leaks from the roof of the parsonage.  Once again, we thank everyone who helped shingle last weekend.  The roof looks nice.

An update for you on Shirley Moore.  She did have two stents placed into an artery last Wednesday.  After staying with a niece for a couple of days she has returned to Maple Ridge, here in Oskaloosa, and is recovering well.  She says she gets tired easily, but as I told her, "don't we all!"  We thank the Lord for watching over her.

Sunday is Pentecost Sunday.  Our worship theme will be:  the Holy Spirit comes to bless us.  The sermon text is John 15:1-7 using the theme, "I Am the True Vine." What a blessing the work of the Holy Spirit is, who brings us to, and keeps us in, the one true faith in Jesus Christ.  The means that the Holy Spirit uses to do this great work is the Word and sacraments.  I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday.

Mary Gutch has cashed in the pennies for our "Pennies for Pakistan" Kids Care project.  I will let her reveal the total on Sunday.  Pennies do add up!  I also remind you, if possible place a donation into the Ukrainian Lutheran Church box on the serving table in the addition.  I give thanks to our gracious Lord for opening your hearts to give to these special offerings we have.

Looking ahead, Sunday, June 6 will be the last Sunday of our formal Sunday school classes.  Beginning the following Sunday we will have a Summer Sunday school series on The Lord's Prayer.  Various members of our youth group will help teach the children's classes during the summer months.  We will also have an adult Bible class.

Our plans are to have VBS the first week of August, Aug. 1-5 (Sunday-Thursday) from 6:30pm-8:30 daily.  Once again we will have a light meal at 6:00pm each evening.

"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.  He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears and he will tell you what is yet to come.  He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you."  Jn 16:13,14

God's blessing on your weekend.   See you on Sunday!

In Christ,

Pastor
