Grace and peace are yours through Jesus Christ our Savior!
We had a brief voter's meeting after the service on Sunday to approve the possibility of elders leading our worship service this Sunday. My mother has three blocked or clogged arteries to the heart. It was suggested she have surgery to open the arteries and place some stents in. She has diminished use of her lungs following radiation after her breast cancer a few years ago making the surgery a little more risky.
My plans for the week are to go up after our Thursday morning Bible class and return on Saturday. On Monday, my mother will talk with the surgeon and set a time for the surgery, if that's the route she wishes to pursue.
I will be here for the service on Sunday but will possibly need the elders help on one of the following Sundays, which depends upon the time of the surgery. That's all I know at this time. Mom is doing well. She is a little apprehensive about it all but trusts in our Lord to provide for her, in every way.
This will be an early greeting this week. Sunday's service will center on the theme, Jesus reveals himself as the prophet sent from God. Our sermon will be taken from John 4:27-42 using the theme, "Fields White Unto the Harvest."
Our Ukrainian contact man, Marv VanHaaften has reported that he sent our free will offerings of 500.00 to the "Barnabas Project" which the fund is called, as I was informed by Rev. Neal Schroeder. We will continue this offering at our Bible classes and coffee time following the worship services on Sundays.
Darcy Crile told me that the Youth Group had a great time at the concert on Sunday. 12 of our Youth attended along with a number of Adults.
We will have catechism classes tomorrow and our Thursday morning Bible class.
God bless you and your labors this week.
"Great are the works of the Lord, they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever." Psalm 111:2,3

Grace and peace be with you all!
Lord willing we will get rid of a little of this ice by Sunday. This is the third Sunday in Epiphany. Our service theme will be: Jesus reveals himself as the Lord's anointed. The sermon text is taken from John 4:5-26 which tells of the conversion of the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. Our choir will sing this Sunday; "If You But Trust in God To Guide You." I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.
As you are aware, the Lord called to his eternal rest the soul of Dr. Terry Fitzpatrick on Monday. A graveside service will be held this Saturday. We remember Nancy and her family in our prayers.
Sunday afternoon a group of Young People and some adult chaperones will be attending a Christian concert in Des Moines. Brian and Darcy Crile are leading his outing. If you have any questions about this outing, give them a call.
I would like to visit a few minutes on Sunday with the parents of my catechism class. There is a good possibility I may not be here next week. My mother's health hasn't been too good. I may go and spend a couple days with her.
God be with you the rest of the week. See you Sunday!

Dec. 9th Cancellations

Grace and Peace to All of You!
Anyone for a picnic tomorrow? I didn't think so. I understand the winds are to pick up to 35-40 mph overnight making conditions very unsafe for travel. As a result we will cancel all of our Wednesday activities. No Catechism class or worship service on Wednesday. At this point it seems safe to say that Thursday's Bible class will be postponed also.
If you are planning to come to the church for any reason, I will call the person in charge of plowing to wait until the winds die down which will probably be Thursday.
So the lot will not be plowed until then. Call me if you need anything from the church or need to get in before its plowed. If you have to travel, the Lord be with you and guide you safely to your destination.
"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow." Ps 51:7 "Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow." Is 1:18 See, snow isn't a bad thing!
The Lord bless and keep you all!

Greetings in Jesus Christ, our Savior!
Just to get you up to date, we had a very brief voter's meeting Sunday, after the worship service.
There are two projects that need our attention in the next year or two. The shingles on the parsonage need replacing, and the frames for the windows in the sanctuary are in need of repair.
The window project would receive a small rebate from Mid America if done before the end of the year. The meeting was called to see if we should go ahead with replacing the windows. The voters decided to wait until the budget meeting in December, and not do anything at this time. We do have a surplus of 2,500.00 from the church roof project, that being the rebate we received for insulating the older portion of our worship facility.
On another note, we did send 622.00 to synod, 300.00 to Martin Luther College, and 300.00 to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. This was from the funds that would have been used for Pastor's health care premium. Our health insurance carriers gave each congregation enrolled in their group plan a one month premium holiday.
God's blessing on your week.
"Many, O Lord my God are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare." Psalm 40:5

Martin Luther Timeline

As part of the materials we have used over the 2 years of Jr. Catechism, the Martin Luther timeline has been especially helpful. I started working on this last fall in a new timeline software application and continued to add materials and photos over time. Photos are arranged in order from 1483 when Luther was born to his death in 1546.
