Good Morning! I pray that your week is starting off well. I just want to give you a brief update on our voter's meeting yesterday. Minutes will be available, as well as a full Treasurer's report, in the near future.
Our Treasurer, Dale Moore, presented the year-to-date financial report with the figures from the roofing project. He reported that all our bills are paid to date. The roofing project ran a little more than estimated, due to the fact we voted to make the roof level all the way across. The reason for that being the addition didn't need the insulation and there would have been a 4-6 inch drop from the old portion to the new. However, with the rebate, when that comes, the project should come in at about 28,000. Our LACE loan is now back at 73,000 on which we pay 840.00 monthly. We still need people to invest some savings in LACE, their interest rates are far better than a Bank's saving account. If you might wish to invest some money you can talk to Pastor or Steve Schemm about doing so.
For new business, we were informed at synod convention this summer that there would be a one month premium holiday for Pastor's health insurance. We will not be charged for the month of November. Synod urged all congregations to consider giving the money saved from that month as a gift to synod. We voted to give 300.00 to both Martin Luther College and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, taking advantage of matching funds from Thrivent and the remainder to synod.
Pres. Steve Schemm will be putting a committee together for planning a celebration next year which marks Grace congregation's 65th anniversary. If you might be interested in being on a committee for planning the anniversary celebration, please talk to Steve.
On Saturday, October 31, we will have a movie night at church to view the movie "Luther." We will order in Pizzas and a free will offering will be collected. We will eat at 6:00pm and watch the movie about 7:00pm (2 hour movie).
Jayne Lewton wishes to donate a tree to the church in memory of her mother, Edythe Benedict. We will plant this tree somewhere between the parsonage and church .
It was approved to give the Thanksgiving Day worship service offering entirely to our synod's Committee on Relief. This has been our practice for many years now. Worship will be Thanksgiving day morning at 10:00am.
We set the date for the Budget meeting, church decorating, soup supper, to be Sunday, December 6. Yes, we have to start thinking Christmas already!
There are probably a few items I missed, but they will be in Mike DenHartog's minutes which will be available soon.
"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him." Nahum 1:7
