Today's sermon centers on the Scripture reading from Mt 26:36-46, where Jesus prays in Gethsemane. Here the battle between Satan and Jesus is waged and Jesus' victory is accomplished over temptation. Here Jesus tell us to "watch and pray" that we do not fall into temptation.

4th Sunday in Epiphany
Written by Pastor Neumann
Sunday, 31 January 2010 13:48
The sermon text is a continuation of last Sunday's text in John 4:27-42 where the Samaritan woman at the well goes to witness what she has heard and now believes - namely that the Savior is here! The disciples have a different reaction and Jesus tells them that the fields are white unto the harvest.
Now is the day of salvation when we hear the Word of God and believe in its message of a Savior from our sin, as did the Samaritan woman. Reaping the benefits of Jesus' work was what the disciples needed to hear and learn. So many are the time that Jesus and even Paul went out to the world of Gentiles to preach the Gospel message because the fields were ripe for harvest.
Listen now to Pastor Neumann as he expounds on our less on John 4:27-42.

3rd Sunday in Epiphany Sermon
Written by Pastor Neumann
Sunday, 24 January 2010 14:22
The sermon text was taken from John 4:5-26 which tells of the conversion of the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. In the sermon, we learn again clearly the purpose of the law and gospel. The law shows us our sins and the need for a Savior. The Gospel gives us the saving message of Jesus Christ, as our Messiah.
Incorporated into the sermon message is a memorial message for Terry Fitzpatrick, who passed to his heavenly home on January 19th, 2010. The message is a blessing as we hear about how our baptism makes us part of God's kingdom and brings the Holy Spirit to work in us. Let us listen to the sermon audio here.

The sermon text for the 2nd Sunday in Epiphany was taken from John 3:22-26, where we find John the Baptist witnessing to Christ's increasing in glory, while John decreased. John says that the people should recognize that God the Father has placed all things in the Son's hands.
The choir performed Oh Bethlehem during the offering, with Mr. Haselhahn and Mrs. Taylor singing a duet in verse one. Listen to the choir sing praise to God below.

January 10th, 2010 Sermon
Written by Pastor Neumann

The first Sunday after Epiphany celebrates the baptism of our Lord. The worship service showed the meaning of the name "Christ" the anointed one. The sermon text was taken from Matthew's Gospel, 3:13-17 using the theme, "This is My Beloved Son." We hear that Jesus needed to be baptized by John, though initial John resisted this thought and will of God. God is well please in Jesus as a baptized and with the Holy Spirit descending as a dove upon Him. We learn that God is please to call us His children also in baptism.
