The sermon text is a continuation of last Sunday's text in John 4:27-42 where the Samaritan woman at the well goes to witness what she has heard and now believes - namely that the Savior is here! The disciples have a different reaction and Jesus tells them that the fields are white unto the harvest.

Now is the day of salvation when we hear the Word of God and believe in its message of a Savior from our sin, as did the Samaritan woman. Reaping the benefits of Jesus' work was what the disciples needed to hear and learn. So many are the time that Jesus and even Paul went out to the world of Gentiles to preach the Gospel message because the fields were ripe for harvest.
