The first Sunday after Epiphany celebrates the baptism of our Lord.  The worship service showed the meaning of the name "Christ" the anointed one.  The sermon text was taken from Matthew's Gospel, 3:13-17 using the theme, "This is My Beloved Son." We hear that Jesus needed to be baptized by John, though initial John resisted this thought and will of God. God is well please in Jesus as a baptized and with the Holy Spirit descending as a dove upon Him. We learn that God is please to call us His children also in baptism.
